What's the deal with scanning - FF or RW - on copies made with DNC? They either won't scan, or the image freezes up, etc... even the bit-for-bit copies. And this applies to ANY player. It's not the media or burn speed I'm using - I've tried different media and burn speeds, and it's still the same. A disc copied with X-Copy to the same media scans perfectly, but absolutely NO DNC copies do, not even dual-layer media. Granted, it's not a show-stopper, and I love DNC, but it IS an irritant and I wish it would be fixed. Also, movies stop playing during the last 3 seconds or so - it just kinda 'pauses' and you have to manually go back to the menu. Again, burn speed or media makes no difference and it does it on every player. I've seen both of these complaints elsewhere, so I hope they are fixed soon.

I have the same problem with FF and RW if the copy was made without compression.
If the copy is made with compression then FF and Rw works.

What is your player brand and model? Have you tried ISO mode and burning with DNC and using nero cd / dvd speed to booktype to dvdrom on +R media?

I also own three different dvdplayers and not one of them say Sony and they are all divx certified players

Every single DVD I've made has scanning problems, both on my PC drives and my stand-alone drives. My PC drives are HP 940E, a Pioneer 4x from 2004 and an LG Light Scribe from 2005. My stand-alone drives are a Panasonic DVD-S97, a Pioneer DVL-700, a Sony 7700, Zenith 910, a cheap $49 Magnavox from a year or so ago, etc... Oh, and a Walmart portable.
Every type of blank disc tried has been the same, including some expensive Kodak Gold archival DVD-R's - Verbatim and Memorex Dual Layer +R's burned both at real time and 2.4x. And standard 16x Memorex DVD-R's burned at different speeds. They all play and load PERFECTLY - it's just if I try to scan, forward or back, the image freezes then starts to break up into strips - sometimes the laser won't even move, it will just repeat a short segment with the screen broken up. This is on EVERY player. Copies & Clones made on DVD X-Copy and DVD XPress do NOT have this difficulty, even on the same blanks.
I've created numerous titles from several companies - like Spiderman 2.1, Pet Shop Boy's Videos, Police Squad, etc... Oh, and The Bionic Woman PAL Region 2 DVD's.

Have you tried to booktype the media from +R to dvdrom? The drive are quite old but this is weird. Also try using ISO along with booktype.

WinXP SP2
Burner: LG GSA-4166b 16X Super Multi DVD/CD Rewriter (flashed to latest firmware)
Media: Verbatim DVD+R DL or Verbatim DVD+R
Always burn at 4X {Tried 2.4X twice and it didn't change the FF/RW issue so went back to 4X.}
Players: Sony, Phillips and APEX. All including re-play on PC exhibit same problem with FF and RW. [It does FF and RW it it's just there isn't any picture to see where to stop. It is either gone, pixelated or stopped.]
Since I don't have any more DVDs to copy I've installed but haven't tried the latest version of DNC.
I tried to get help through the ticket system but when i described the problem and the response was "Did you download and install 3rd party plug-ins?" I knew they couldn't help.

When you get some more media try to booktype it to dvdrom on +R media and let us know.

Here's weird...
If the disc is a re-compress, the title plays perfectly - BUT - if the disc is a bit-for-bit package, dual layer or single layer, all of the titles play fine but 'freeze' and stop playing during the last 3 to 8 seconds. It doesn't matter what type of disc or anything, it does it on every player.
So, right now, I absolutely LOVE DNC, but scanning and the 'freezing' are my only two - MINOR - problems. I have NOT downloaded the latest version of DNC yet, so I can't say if either problems is fixed - when I do, I WILL post the results here.

Thanks allot of users still rely on the old scanning method to prove quality but most users have learned that this isn't true and always the case so if the video plays back good without an issue then it is called a good burn. There has been discrepancies with the scans in Nero now from my reading. It is still a nice tool but you can't depend on it as you were able to in the past so it seems.

I'm having the same problem. I have never been able to fast forward or go back on a copy. I thought it was a problem of not having a full duel layer. I hope you find and fix because it would be nice to go back and see a good action sequence on my copies.
I am also having the same problem for quite some time now. Backup play excellent ,look great, but can not fast forward or reverse.I have used nothing but Verbatim for 3 years at half speed movie only backups.I use 4 different drives 2 nec , 2 LG . I also play them on 5 different makes of players. all refuse to FF or FR. thought it was just a quirk.

This is a DVD scanning thread. Please start a thread with your issue as this is talking about scanning with nero cd/dvd speed and booktyping.
