View Full Version : video/voice out of sync

Have used Pro to load stuff onto the Ipod, not a problem. Other than the voice and video are out of sync. I've tried different settings and haven't gotten anywhere.
The strange part is that I ripped a movie and it was out....ripped a different and it was PERFECT!!! I tried to burn a home made family video DVD without the need to rip and it is out...using all the different settings.
Figured that maybe the ripping could cause issues, but now I know it's something else.
Any suggestions? Have "attempted" to work with the company but not having any luck.
PS, I am able to "fix" it going back into Quicktime and following these instructions The Last iPod Video Guide You’ll Ever Need at Plastic Bugs (http://plasticbugs.com/?p=305#problem2) but, it would be nice to not have to fix everything. Also, with one movie I needed to use the above instructions at the beginning and the end of the movie since the syncing changed from voice before to voice after the mouth movements during the movie.
Thanks again for any ideas.

Thanks so much.

I'm not sure what settings I used. At the beginning it skips and repeats it self for about 12 minutes then it stopps then it plays out of sync and then when i get about 30 minutes into the movie it seems to be in sync. I have deleted the movie and put it back on the hard drive. I just don't know what else to do. What do you sugest?
Thanks for all the help you can give me.

Download my manual I made and read it as I put up pics both for the PSP and the IPOD. When you try again take note of every step you make and note what quality setting you use too. Multi-tasking can interfere with this possibly too I think. Users manual I made is the link I provide here.

Hi,
I have already downloaded your manual and went by that. After I put the movie on my hard drive and move it to another folder I click on it and open it with Quick Time Player to see how it is going to play before I put it in my iTunes. Well, when I open it up it repeats itself.
I tried to write everything down that I did to burn the DVD on my hard drive. I hope this helps you in helping me.
I clicked on NEW and this is what was in there...project name target size DVD-5 (4.7GB) Quality Default (Normal)..Enable preview while copy...burn after convert..DVD Root Set (200MB)...Everything is checked in the video Title Set 1-6....Language - en-DTS(48kHz) 6 channels DRC (title set)
and I chose...iPod-Mpeg-4/640x480/29.97FPS/512kbit/AAC/128bit
I hope I didn't leave anything out. I know that is probably more info than you wanted. The video still will not turn out right on my hard drive so I can put it in my iTunes to put in my iPod. What do I need to do?
Thanks again for all the help you are giving me.

Try this and see how it turns out.
iPod-Mpeg-4/320x240/29.97FPS/256kbit/AAC/48bit
This is the setting I use on my PSP, Zune, and the IPOD and all is perfect.

Have you ran PC Decrapifier yet?
I don't understand what you mean here. Could you explain, please?
So, you're the proud owner of a new PC. You anxiously open the box, dumping out the contents, casting the instructions aside. You feverishly push your old PC off the desk and get the new one set up. On the floor lies a pile of plastic wrap and twist ties. Your brand spanking new PC boots up only to greet you with a plethora of pop up advertisements pestering you to pay for anti-virus software or sign up for a music service. Your desktop is littered with website links for 'special offers.' The system tray is already full of programs that continuously use your internet connection to make sure that you're 'up to date.'
"When did I ask for this?" you ask. Well, you didn't and that's where the PC Decrapifier comes in. The PC Decrapifier attempts to remove all of the crap on your PC that you never asked for or wanted. To manually remove all of this stuff by hand can take at least an hour (depending on the severity of the infestation.) The PC Decrapifier will detect the 'crap' on your system, you choose what to uninstall, then sit back and let the PC Decrapifier work its magic.
All of this stuff is placed on your new PC because the big companies like Dell, HP and others sell advertising space on your PC to put more money in their pockets at the expense of your time and frustration.
The PC Decrapifier is a program free for personal use to help the average computer user combat this problem. It is also available for PC technicians at a small fee to use as a tool in their everyday business to save a tremendous amount of time.

Hello Microburn.
Sorry I have not gotten back with you sooner, but have not been on here over the weekend.
I was trying to burn "Remember The Titans". Still can not get it worked out. I am now trying to get "Pretty Woman" on my iPod. the only problem that I am having with it is the voice is not in sync with the lips. I have gone to this web site. plasticbugs.com and I trying to follow what they say to do, but still can't get it in sync.
I am using machnist decrypter.
If you have any other advice, I sure would appriciate it.

I would suggest trying some of the other settings the default should be okay but it compresses the movie to a little over 250mbs you should try one of the other settings in the drop down bar that do not compress the movie so much.

Hey Charlie,
I have read and done what that says, and I'm still having problems.
Let me ask you this, does it matter what my burn speed is undersetting is since i am only putting this on my hard drive? And, do i need to shut everything down when I am doing this or can I still have things running in the back ground...internet connection, yahoo, spysweeper?

Well the best answer I can give you is the less the better. Internet connection is fine. Norton I am iffy on as I used to be a fanboy of that, but now prefer to use free apps just as good. I am getting some new DVD's today and will try those as well. I really don't try the IPOD ordeal on all titles just a few to see if all is well. I want to say out of sync does sound like too many running apps in the background. Grant it I have a top of the line PC and more than enough RAM but I run 59 processes myself and all is good.

When some users playback some video files be it MP4 AVI etc.... you need to download and install codecs to play the video sometimes and these can interfere with DNC sometimes.

I am not running these tests on a laptop and I have 4 gigs of ram installed but good rule of thumb is to close out any programs running in the backround before you start.
Ok made several copies last night and was not able to duplicate your problem, I did infact notice on one though that was playing in Itunes that was copied at the lowest resolution selected that I had to make my viewing area real small in itunes to make play it properly and it seemed slightly out of sync, but it played fine on the ipod. I went back and copied it again at 128 and it was alot clearer with the screen at max on itunes and still played great on the ipod and the sync was perfect it took a bit longer to transfer during the conversion process as well, here are the settings I have been using that I feel work the best for me you may want to try a higher resolution setting to see if it helps you or not one thing I neglected to ask you was do you have buffer underun protection checked if it is not go back and check it hope this helps let us know what you have installed on your system as far as programs go I want to see if there maybe a conflict somewere with the software and dnc thanks :)

have you tried the settings that Vinman posted for you ??
I would also uninstall roxio that is a big no no with most burning and converting apps and retry and yes if it is out of sync viewing it with Quick time it will be out of sync in your ipod also.
start by uninstalling roxio and retry with the different DNC settings please, if that fails uninstall and reinstall itunes next and we will go from there.
OK....I will uninstall roxio and try the settings that vitman has suggested...I have them printed out...and if that does not work, I will uninstall iTunes and then we can take it from there....thanks again for all of yalls help...

I always just use the default on mine the better the settings will take a bit or much longer too. If you want a free antivirus I suggest getting rid of Norton and use AVG Free.

I second that also avg free is a great program and does not take 256 mbs of memory to run either norton is a resource hog at best avg has a rating right up there with norton some rate it better.
thats what i run also for antivirus and it works great!!

I'm not happy with Norton right now, so I just might check into the "AVG Free" thing.
Thanks for the advice!

Ok...I just ripped one and it is still doing the same thing...but I was not able to do everything that vinman had said with his pics...I was not able to check the box that said "Activate software compatibility mode" I was able to do everything else...and when I go to temp folder to play it it is not in there it is in the DVDneXtcopy fold not the "temp" does that make any difference?
I uninstalled roxio and done what i was suppose to do with that and turned everything off that i could....the only thing i have not done yet was uninstall iTunes...i wanted to see what yall said about not being able to check the box that said "Activate software compatibility mode"

That is if you use and or bought anydvd there is a free 21 day trial. I use it 99% of the time. Well Spidy 3 was all in sync and this is a new today's release.

Sorry, but I'm not sure what you mean by this "That is if you use and or bought anydvd there is a free 21 day trial. I use it 99% of the time"

compatibility mode is those that are either :
A. own AnyDVD
B. trying the trial ( 21 days free )
This is a separate product that is similar and in my opinion is a better plugin than the machinist. I still test the machinist though as and when needed.

so are you saying that I need to try a different plugin?

Nope that is the only way to use the compatibility mode on DNC if you use anydvd. The machinist is just fine right now for all titles except Blade house of Chthron, and Full of it. The underlined are two titles DNC can't handle without anydvd.

I hate to ask this question but I must have you tried more than one movie title and end up with the same results or have you been using only one movie title for your tests??
anydvd is a great program you might want to try it out its fully functional for 21 days all you would have to do is uninstall the machnist from add/ remove programs and then install anydvd and then check the compatablity box and give it a try it is worth a shot . you are using the machnist plugin correct and not Dvd43??
