Hi I am new to this site and have a very limited knowledge of hard/software.
However I know what I want and am prepared to learn and spend the time and money.

I have a DVD collection getting on for 1500 titles. I want to rip all of them to a home server and be able to play them wirelessly throughout the house.

At any given TV in the house I would like to be able to access all my films sort them however I wish, i.e. by time by genre etc and all with thumb nails.

I know there is hardware and soft ware to buy. I am not sure what’s the best approach to it all.

Can anyone help, does anyone have a similar setup

Cheers

Kevin

It would be the easiest to get a computer that has either Windows XP Media Center Edition or Windows Vista Premium or above. Are you wanting to have this built for you or are you going to to out and just buy one already put together? This can be done like you are speaking about but not real familiar with how to stream it through a server though.

Thanks Hemi but you still want XP MCE or Vista Premium or above as well. I might get one of these babies. :)

Microsoft launched a different line of extenders a few years ago for the Windows XP Media Center Edition, but it never took off.
