Tried VDrive for the first time last night and experienced VERY choppy playback. I looked for various settings to adjust, bt didn't find any relevant ones.

The DVD was 24 Season 6 disk 1.

System Dell Inspiron 9400 Core2Duo (T7200, I think) with 2 Gig ram. 200 GB 7200 rpm HD, Vista Ultimate. ATI x1400 video card.

Any ideas why?

Is this the 32 bit or the 64 bit OS of Vista?

32-bit

I re-read your first post, I am curious to what quality settings for the read process you used. I run Home Premium on the other PC and playback is perfect with only 1 gig of ram installed on a 3.0 HT Processor. I can't test the Ultimate machine as of yet due to it is running the 64 bit an VDrive doesn't work yet on this machine. :frown:

Default value (can't recall the name) of quality. A copied DVD plays fine.

How many running processes are going on at once? You might need to turn off those that are unnecessary.

Yeah, but a standard DVD plays fine with all those processes running. If there is no fix, I will just burn DVDs instead. Mucking around with these things just to make it OK for VDrive to function just is more effort than should be necessary. The machine has the specs to easily run a program like this. I have about 65 processes running at any given time, which for Vista Ultimate is probably fairly run of the mill.

Understand, I am NOT whining. I can work around this, I just thought there might be a configuration setting to tweak.

One question and I think I know the answer does this happen with all isos mounted with the vdrive??

this is a episode disc did you do a fulldisc backup if not that would do it and one more thing I would try is cleaning the disc and deleting the iso and redoing it and see what happens it is very possible even though the process to do the iso completes fine but the disc that you are reading it from has some bad spots in it IE: scratches ect.

Thanks Tony,

It was an episodic disk, but it was fresh out of the wrapper. This is the first iso I had tried.

Mike

And it was a full backup

Try a different disc, not 24 this may be an issue who knows?

Maybe a slight twist. I created the iso from the backup in my DVDNextCopy folder as opposed to a direct copy from the disk.

Try creating the iso from the original disc and I will bet you this movie where it is a episode disc is your problem try another title and see what the results are please and post back,

Thank you.:)

I have the same problem with my quad core machine and Vista Home Premium. Choppy replay when using the NextCopy virtual drive. The Daemon Tools virtual drive works great.

Having two programs like dameon virtual drives and Vdrive for DNC is not a good idea use only one or the other and also is your Vista OS 64 bit by chance if so the Vdrive does not work on Vista 64.JFYI:)

I was doing some free time reading on virtual drives useages.

First In most cases "NORTON" appears to be the biggest problem child!!! Go Figure!!

Second was to uninstall any network cards and software.

Then after checking Vdrive playback reinstall network card " if not built in" and drivers .

Then try playing from the vdrive

Also try using Win Media Player play back to see if it plays choppy.
