Hello Everyone
I just started getting this error message
only happened twice so far
I googled and it appears that according to many other users with this problem have been told its because of the motherboard.
Oh yeah this is a Gateway Fx400x model media Center Computer with 3G pc4200 533 ddr2
I have Intel (Big Lake) 945G Motherboard No CPU R0 [Part #WMEOEMD945GBIG1
After chating with gateway -they said its the motherboard and I have to send it in for service and it will be approx 187.00
and that I cannot change the motherboard myself.
Has anyone ever had this issue
I have air blown the inside out and there was little if any dust as I do this pretty regularly.
Any insight would be great
Brad

Sorry Brad I have no ideal except maybe the thermal paste is bad?
i would try taking the heat sink off cleaning the two surfaces putting on some new thremal paste and trying it out before I would shell out 187.00..god for that price you could buy a better mobo.
sounds though like with this mobo that there have been issues of it getting too hot would be my best guess probably readmetoo can help out better..

If you enter the BIOS settings you'll see a section that has a setting for the thermal shutdown.
Have a look at what temp is set to shutdown at.
Also enter the section where you see the real-time temp of the CPU and fan RPMs.
just an fyi.
EVEREST (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/download/file/everest-home-edition) is a good all around free software to give you alot of info on your system
BTW sometimes cpu fan shut downs will do this sometimes doesn't matter if it spins it may be spinning too slow.
It should be somewhere around 1800 - 2700 RPM.!!!
'SPEEDFAN (http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php)' IS A HELPFUL TOOL FOR THIS

Hi Brad.
Sorry to hear the problems m8. These things just plain suck. !!
I would suggest what Tony and the others have already said. buy some thermal paste and re-apply it to the CPU and re-attach the heatsink & fan.
If this does not do the job then it possible the mobo as described. When you have your computer open next ( pretty soon after power it off ) just check to see if the mobo is giving off any excess heat. Its should not be that hot more warm.

Hi :)
An alternative to Everest (free version no longer supported). See post #6.
PCWizard (http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php) also free & still supported.
