When I built my nas I think I might have screwed up. On power up the computer saw the drive so i didnt think i needed to do anything else. Ive only done this a few times so i probably missed something. Recently I tried changing my DNC Library folder over directly to the nas from the other computer but when i try to back up it says drive space is extremely low. I ran windows98 startup to look at the partition and it says it is only about 20,000 mega bytes which is only 20 gigs correct. but when i look at the drive in my computer it says it has 435 gigs available
xp pro sp2
seagate 300 500 gig drive/ata
NTFS

Dos and Win98 will not see anything over 20 or 40 gigs if I remember right?

Here you go but if the disk has been partitioned filly then you need to use a different tool like partition magic or something.
How to use Disk Management to configure basic disks in Windows XP (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309000)

I would look into another HDD instead the price of partition magic and the price of a hdd are about the same but another hdd gives you more space too.

Well I think you have enough for now 4 other 500 gig hdd's equals 2 terabytes which equals 2000 gigs.
This is just my opinion though.

Yep by the time you fill those up terabyte drive will be under 200 usd then you can just upgrade to those and replace the 500 gigs with 5000 gigs.
