Can't seem to find my old thread to bump so I will create a new one.

We have a seniors section now for those that pop in a bit more and help out our members that post issues. I see allot of users that come here everyday and not post anything ( assuming that you found your fix ) Those of you willing to help please help out the members here and when you are being consistent it is noted and you will be looked at for the seniors section.

What does this section consist of you may ask?

Well there is more openly talking with staff as well as getting to use the chat feature we have here as we have a instant chat room now. There is more to offer and we are constantly trying to give more benefits to the senior members. Note the seniors section has nothing to do with age but rather being a participant on the forum to help others. I am not always around and neither are the mods here and we certainly don't know it all and will not say we do. So offer your assistance to other members and you will be noticed for promotion.

Hello Everyone,
I have long been registered to this forum, but never posted before since any difficulties I had with DVDNeXtCopy were solved with the support ticket option. Kudos to them for that. I use the program mainly for backing up dvds I create from my personal video business.
One thing many people do not realize is that a video tape can be damaged, but it can be spliced and still play with lines going through the picture or a bunch of dropouts at the damaged point. The rest of the tape will still play fine. Damage a DVD at a critical point and it will stall and you cannot get the DVD to play past the damaged point. Get a bad scratch at the lead in and the DVD will be totally rejected by the player. The longevity of DVDs is not certain either. Storage conditions can erode the recorded surface as can various labeling options such as stick on labels and marking pens. Always a good idea to have backups of important material. I have lived long enough to see a bunch of generations of video recording devices become obsolete in my professional video business. Many of the tapes used in those machines are deteriorating and you are now lucky to be able to find a working machine to play them back.
