View Full Version : Computer temps?

I have the Antec Gamer 900 Case
Newegg.com - Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
I had the Fans on High for quite sometime thinking that the more air flow the better the temps. I then put it on medium for over a month as well to see if the temps would drop some and that was about a 1 to 2° C drop only. Now I have it on low and the temps dropped 2° C more.
ReadMeToo, McT, Zebadee or anyone know why the temps are lower on the low setting of the fan than when I had it on high? Everything in the case is stock the Med. and the High settings of the fan were tested longer than a month each. Voltages are the same as well and no Overclocking too.
I am puzzled and the only solution or rationalization I can think of is the with the fans on Med. or High it wasn't allowing proper air flow.

Better airflow out of the case could be the reason I would think!
as maybe on high its pushed past that point and not out of the case thats why I like the idea of having the ability to lower or increase them seperately intake and exaust is what I mean as one may need more then the other

Think I should raise the intake to medium and see if I get a drop? I have the rear set on low and the 200mm fan on top set to low and the 2 front ones are intakes. Temps right now are 37 to 38° C right now and steady there but I think it should be allot lower?

actually try the other way around raise the exaust a bit to pull out the hot air try it although those temps seem ok to me!

I'll set the rear and not the top as hot air rises so the top on low would seem ok.

Right give that a shot and let us know what happens

I'll let it run a while before I check the temps. Speed Fan seems to work well and give the same temp as the bios sometimes it may be 1 or 2 ° difference.

2 hours no change.

Hi :)
He's only said that because I told him.
Using the Tuniq should mean temps fall between 5 & 10 degrees. Depending on the demands on your CPU.
So at least 5 degrees fall in max temp under load.
Around 10 degrees on standby.
This is system dependant.
The way I have mine setup, the CPU fan rarely rises above 950 RPM.
Look at Craig's fan speed & it is around 2130 RPM.
So he's feels that with the lower temps. His setup is more effecient than mine.
If I go to max RPM, I can then hear the fan. But my CPU temps drop to around 20 degrees min. 27 degrees max.
With the Tuniq my temps (even on reduced fan speed ) never rose above 25 degrees.

That would be nice on the temps 25 to 30. Mine is really quiet and think the stock fan is running aroun 800+ speed? Let me see real quick.

8154 is the current speed but this is a stock fan that comes with Intel CPU's too.

I think your pulling my leg here Zeb's. :giggle:
The Tuniq is a better cooler that the Arctic freezer , the arctic was a cheaper copy of that cooler.

I never mentioned mine being more efficient , Just running very cool for the OC i do. :tounge:
Although i have never used it i would recommend you get the Tuniq tower if you can. But if like me want something of similar look and good cooler performance for half the price then the Arctic freezer 7 pro is another option. It will bring your temps down to at least 30 Charlie.
McT

Stability and reliability is most important. I don't plan having it cranked up but would enjoy nicer temps.

Well i guess its about price. Unless you are intending on upgrading your current CPU at some stage to a 45nm. ??
The Arctic is under $20 for a pretty good cooler.
And the Tuniq what is probably the best of this type cooler about $30-$40 maybe more , dont know the exact exchange rate.
But both of them will work well there is no doubt about it.
