Those of you that installed Vista SP1 on a RTM version of Vista without SP1 you need to right click on my computer and select properties and then click on Advance Settings and ensure DEP is off. Those of you that had Pre SP1 and then installed SP1 that had system restore turned off need to change this back as well. As Vista SP1 turns these 2 things on during and after the install of SP1.

I checked this out Charlie it dosen't give you the option of turning it off, just the option of excludeing programs affected by it, should DNC be include as one of those files?

Um I never had DEP or system restore on before I installed SP1. I was amazed to see MS tell me I needed this on. DEP can prevent copying DVD's sometimes. I hate system restore as I have a Image of the OS itself so when I have issues I just format and restore my untouched image. Figured this out beta testing to troubleshoot peoples issues needing to reboot on the latest anydvd beta. I did take the time just now to un-install it and not save the info and ran a reg cleaner to ensure I didn't have any leftovers of AnyDVD at all and this install didn't ask for a reboot nor a lag on installing.

I'm wondering then if this could be a problem some people using DNC and having some troubles backing up there dvd's would they have ths setting on XP as well? Take Eric for instance thinking it was the drive he just bought and returned?

Not sure but possible. I have the XP version to turning of DEP and the Vista version is almost the same. I may make a few screen shots on this for the Vista users.

Do a clean install of it. Save your key to re-register.
