I continue to have intermittent problems when selecting New Project, Open form Harddrive, browse to the ripped DVD, everything good so far, but when I click the start button, I frequently get no response or DNC locks up.

I've experienced this on my XP box, my VISTA box, and the VISTA after I installed SP1. Anybody having these type of issues with DNC?

I have very few problems with making direct backups to DVD, but that Open from Harddrive feature just doesn't seem to work well for me. (p.s., the ripped movies on the hard drive are good/not corrupted).

never had a single issue the only ones known are if you update to a newer version we have had a couple of problems but it was usually a system that was not properly maintained what antivirus program are you running?

Usually when you copie to your harddrive, the copy will be listed under the Projects tab that you see when you open the program. (upper left tab). Click that tab & you should see all movies saved to the hdd. Highlight the one you want to burn & click the NEXT button. You should be good to go.

No anti-virus software. Since I don't have them listed as Projects (I rip to hard drive directly using AnyDVD), I'll add it as a Project first, then see if it works any better for me.

if you don't have anti virus software you may have a virus or two, which could affect the whole machine download avg free and run it.

If you click on the PROJECTS tab, then click on the ADD button, click on the Project Path button, browse to your copied DVD file & click OK, that file will be added to your projects. It doesn't matter if you ripped it with AnyDVD, it will work. As I said before, highlight the copy you want to burn & click NEXT.

That does seem to work reliably - thanks. I still submit that there is something quirky with DNC when it comes to using the 'Open from harddrive' feature, but its a moot point if I just add it as a Project.

Thanks again - I'm good to go.

I ripped The Mist with AnyDVD & used the Open from harddrive with no problem. I would suggest that the problem you are experiencing stems from something other than the software.
May I ask why you are ripping to the harddrive with AnyDVD ?

When I discovered that AnyDVD already had the rip to harddrive, I didn't see any reason to load DNC to perform that function (I like to keep the original quality, so I rip to DVD-9....storage is cheap). Of course DNC is great when I need to backup to DVD-9 or DVD-5 media.
