Would you rather have 2 free programs that are just as good if not better? I really try to keep our users here from buying what I would call crap in my personal opinion?

I would go with nod32 instead of norton. I like norton but it is a program that is bloated if you are not experianced with the tricks of trimming the fat it will cause more problems than it is worth, like charlie said there are also some free programs out there but I have bad experiances with them myself, like I said at first NOD32 is the best in my opion.

The Best Antivirus Solution for 2006 and 2007
AV-Comparatives named ESET the "Best Antivirus Product" the last two years as they know it's proactive, precise technology (http://www.eset.com/products/compare_heuristic_detection.php) –not brand names–that stops malware. And ESET NOD32 Antivirus is the best virus protection available.
Compare Antivirus Software
Direct comparisons with other antivirus solutions tell the story better than we ever could.
ESET NOD32 Antivirus consistently proves itself to be the best antivirus software, clearly ranking higher in detection, size and speed when compared to its competitors.
Compare antivirus solutions and see what happens when ESET goes up against Symantec, McAfee Trend and more. Discover why ESET is the most proactive, precise, lightweight and fast solution—and the best choice for home and business use.
Best Antivirus Software for Detecting and Eliminating Known and Evolving Threats
Approximately 80% of threats discovered by ESET are proactively detected using ThreatSense® heuristics (http://www.eset.com/products/compare_heuristic_detection.php) . For example, all variants of MyDoom, Netsky, Bagle and Mytob were detected heuristically—well before other vendors had issued a signature.
When it comes to "In-the-Wild," virus detection, no one beat even comes close, as the following chart illustrates.http://www.eset.com/images/Missed-In-the-Wild-Viruses.jpg
Over the past nine years, ESET has collected 48 VB100 awards (http://www.virusbtn.com/)—more than any other vendor.
http://www.eset.com/images/VB-tests-passed.jpg
Due to its highly proactive (http://www.eset.com/products/compare_heuristic_detection.php) , on-demand detection rate and low false positives, ESET NOD32 Antivirus consistently receives the highest possible rating—ADVANCED+—from AV-Comparatives.org (http://www.av-comparatives.org/), an independent research group.
You might think something so powerful would tax your resources. But quite the opposite is true. Because of its highly optimized code and light system footprint, ESET NOD32 Antivirus includes one of the fastest scanners in the industry, as the following charts clearly illustrate.

Add it all up, and it's no surprise that ESET NOD32 was named "Best Antivirus Product" for 2006 and 2007 (read more here (http://www.av-comparatives.org/)).

Using the in-depth chart below, you can compare antivirus software and find out which type will provide the kind of protection you need. The study stands ESET NOD32 Antivirus up to some of the biggest brand names - Symantec, McAfee, and Trend Micro - comparing protection as well as performance.

Compare antivirus software and the answer is clear. Big brand names don’t stop malware. Advanced design and technology does. ESET NOD32 Antivirus, with ThreatSense® offers superior detection and performance, as well as the smallest footprint.

I just want to add that the above post is straight from ESET's website so there will always be biased information from the manufacturers website. If you was to go to Kaspersky, Zone Labs etc... they would show theirs as the best over others. This is normal to see though.
I am currently on the mcaffe thanks for the advice on others does this mean you think it is my virus protection i just burned a new dvd mounted it and it still will not play just goes to resume.

Disable symantec totally and retry to see. Use ISO mode and don't burn then mount it to VDrive. Or do like I do and use an RW disc. Vdrive is still very buggy in my opinion.

Here look at Kaspersky's chart. Notice how it promotes? Anyhow I will recommend Kaspersky, Zone Alarm, ESET, Bitdefender. These all play well with DNC. I haven't tested mcaffe personally but it may be ok.

NOD32 is just antivirus software the smart security is antivirus, firewall etc.... I think there is a trial for each so you can see if it works for your needs too.
thanks I'll try the smart security
I down loaded the filter you recommended it showed all my drives in the dnx virtual drives
