Hello,

I'm getting a menu system when I put in a dvd. It only happens on my Toshiba 19" LCD/DVD combo unit, they play fine everywhere else. It's a blue screen that has "Root Menu" on top (or something like that)

I use DVD Next Copy, go to an .iso, burn with nero. I use Maxell -R 16X media, burning at 4x. I have tried burning with DVDNC burning software, IMGBURN and I have switched to +R and booktype to DVD-ROM. I'm using a Lite-on burner and downloaded the firmware upgrade, applied a booktype program that sets it to DVD-ROM.

I also tried a different computer, using a Sony drive and Nero, setting the Booktype to Auto and again setting it to DVD-ROM, then used +R media. This is driving me crazy, because I have to hook an external dvd player up to a tv that has a built in DVD in order for the kids to watch their movies. The guy I work with gets the same menu screen on his also. Any ideas? I thought the booktyping would fix it but it didn't. Thanks for your help!

To answer your question what is the title

Underdog
Sweeney Todd
Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends
War of the Worlds

It does it on several. Thanks.

Underdog you might have a bad disc as I copied that title fine with the machinist. Not sure on the others will look into it. So is this a custom or full disc or movie only?

War of the worlds works fine with DNC and the machinist

Yep sounds like time to go to the Toshiba's web site an see if there is a firmware update for your Toshiba 19" LCD/DVD combo unit.

I say this because my 2008 Samsung BDUP5000 BD/HD/DVD player has had 2 updates in 6 weeks.

War of the Worlds was movie only. The others were full discs. I'll look into the update on the tv/dvd player. Thanks for your help and it's not critical, please don't invest a lot of time in it. Thanks!

Lets us now if it works,

My next thought instead of playing with all the different functions , just do a default back up at 12x using a 16x+R verb either in movie mode or full mode.

This is from the Toshiba sight:

*Some DVD-R/DVD-RW and CD-R/CD-RW discs may be incompatible due to laser pick up and disc design. CD-R/CD-RW discs must be recorded using CD-DA method for CD audio playback. The DVD player in this TV may not support some MP3/WMA/JPEG/DivX recordings due to differences in recording formats, disc structure, or condition of the disc (use of CD-RW for MP3 files is not recommended). See owner’s manual for more information.

I guess that sums it up. Like they say here in the Pacific Northwest - if you buy it from Video Only, You'll Be Sorry!!! No refunds...............

Thanks again.
