View Full Version : Problems with DVD Next Copy

To continue from the point of my defective Samsung SATA drive, I'm now only using my IDE Sony Optaric drive, which does burn successfully. However, after successfully reading and writing a disc, DVD Next Copy stops responding and crashes. However, even through trying to shut down the process, I have to reboot my PC, as it won't terminate or become responsive again.
I'm not sure if this BitDefender's fault, but I'm not sure if this is DVD Next Copy's fault. Just to be sure, I reinstalled the latest version of DVD Next Copy, and it did the same thing.
Can anyone offer some suggestions?

List tool bars other firewalls, Virus detection what major software like DNC is on this system, next what do you use this system for mostly.
Look I am going to jump out here an tell you ,you have a software conflict issue, its not your drives not motherboards it is a software issue.
I have run on all these systems I own Gateways, Acers, Hp's Dell's Compaq's, IBM's, Dell Laptops Acer and HP,everything from P3's w/Dual 1gig w/ 2 gig mem,P3 933 with 512, P4's 3 gig with 2 gig mem, Hp AMD Dual core , Intel P4 2 gig laptops
Ive put this software on a Pent Pro 366 with 512 of EDO, this system is running XP sp3 , I was told it would never work,
I have more different systems that FRYS
So Again I would myself like to know whats going on with your system. and be honest what software your running on this system.

It's really weird, because I have minimal programs running. The only security product I use is BitDefender's Internet Security Suite which has on-demand antivirus scanning, anti-spyware, and an excellent firewall only using 4MB of background memory compared to other security giants who use well over 40MB of memory and strain resources.
I've got a wireless utility running, gaming mouse optimization utility for my XG 2000 DPI mouse, Kworld TV Tuner Sheduler and Remote utility for my PCI Tuner card, and that's about it!
I'm pretty sure it's BitDefender myself, so I have emailed them about it, and are waiting a response.
I don't have these issues on my second quad core running ZoneAlarm Internet Security (The best but heavy on resources lol).

uninstall bit defender and give DNC another try that would tell you pretty quickly:wink:

And your running XP SP3 on this system, if this is all you have on this system WHY ARE YOU RUNNING BIT DEFENDER an ZONE ALARM, THEY both have been known to cause conflicts for years,
I hate to say this but I have not ran either of those in 10 plus years. As a Pro Tech an PC shop owner dump them ask any repair tech what we use 9 out of 10 , AVG 8 ,Never an issue andthey are always first to kill the new viruses.
The only firewall is my Linksys plus MS OS, but then again I have a deadicated system just for back ups.
Ok lets speed this up from the system you have described to us you have got to have an unused HDD format it NTSF Install your OS with SP3 update then load all your drivers then load DNC with 3rd party software then do a back up.
If it does not work then you will know its a hardware conflict with drivers.

I would follow this advice. But obviously kill your conectivity before you do this. Dont want any unwanted things creeping in.
There was a problem with Avast a while ago and how it made DNC and other programs act weird. This " could " be another. They only way to confirm this is to remove it and run Ccleaner and AWC2 to really clean out any crap and then try DNC to see if this helps.

I disagree strongly. The newest version of ZoneAlarm barely conflicts with anything. I know it's the best, because on one of my computers, it blocked 500,000 intrusions when using P2P, which I don't use anymore, and truly does block all hackers. It finds viruses immediately, as ZoneAlarm has teamed up with Kasperky for their antivirus. It protects you from all the threats out there while keeping your privacy in check.
The same goes for BitDefender except that its firewall could still use a little work which would then make it the best.
I will try uninstalling BitDefender and then run DVD Next Copy.
I don't want to leave my computers without a firewall, as that is the most important security software all computers need. Viruses are second to firewalls, as with a firewall, they can't connect to the internet ;)!
I'll let you guys know. I'm trying this tonight.

Theses are all just suggestions we are giving you to help solve your problem whether you take it or not is up to you, DNC works great and we all have a issue with software or hardware conflicts at one point in time or another, the best thing to do is what we suggest agree or not this is a process of elimination, as we can't duplicate the problem you are experiancing.

I am going to have to agree with the judgment of this thread. We all have great knowledge but to not try what's suggested or advised is a show of arrogance and we want to avoid such here and have a friendly environment. Just look at some of my posts I even have to say let me get back to you on a answer if I don't know.
