Hey Duff and McT, (and Charlie0, I finally figured out how to add pictures in the album. You have to go to the album, then write something in the window(somekind of text) then when you click submit it will ask you if youd like to post pictures!! Man i swear that was hard to figure out. Anyways theres some cool pics up there of my SS Z06 69 camaro, my AA/Fuel Altered(in my avitar) my custom chopper, and my 05 CRF450X poor mans super moto. Which is why I started this whole ordeal, McT wanted to see pics of my CRF!! Thanks

Craig, in response to your PM questions I thought Id just post them here so I dont have to write it twice. The CRF was stock when I got it and wasnt exactly maintenanced the way Id hoped it would be. I drove 4 hours up to near the CA/Oregon border to do the deal (and fried the overdrive in my 72 chevy 4x4 on the way home) so I wasnt coming home empty handed! I pulled it all the way down to the frame and cleaned everything and went through and serviced/lubed everything and then started on the engine. It didnt run right at all, so I went straight to the valves, adjusted them, and it helped but still wasnt right. Went through the carb, same thing, helped but still not right. After a week or so of trial and error stuff, finally figured out it was the air/fuel thumb screw. The guy i got it from screwed it in so tight that the very wee end of the tip broke off and was stuck up in the airflow chamber causing a lean condition that the carbs TPS(throttle position sensor) was constantly trying to compensate for causing it to run poorly. So after I got it running right, then I started doing all the mods, first off I re-jetted the entire carb for the huge diff. in elevation. (and pipe/aircleaner)Did compression test to be sure rings/bore was still good(which it was), added a full titanium FMF 4.1 exhaust with powerbomb. New perf. air cleaner. New re-usable/washable COMPFLOW oil filter system with black billet cover. Pulled off all the smog junk and capped it all off with the billet red and black caps from APPLIED RACING. Went through forks/rear shock, added new 3 degree raked APPLIED RACING black upper/lower tripple trees for improved turning speeds, also a SCOTTS steering dampner. New PRO TAPER bars, ALL new black UFO plastics and headlight with built in turnsignals.(and the METAL MULISHIA graphics kit, with a combonation of my own stickers) New rear LED blinkers from BAJA DESIGNS. Went through and re-wired the entire BAJA kit so it would/charge and work properly. Also re-wired the heated grips it came with to work right(theyre cool!). Ordered up a new BAJA seat from GUTS RACING seats. Its taller, and MUCH softer than the rock hard stocker, and came with a cool new cover!! It already had the BAJA DESIGNS baja tank(3.2 gallon) ACERBIS bark busters were already on it. Added some really bitchin PIVOT PEGZ which fold up and pivot/rotate about 60 degrees forward and back, they are awesome when riding! It had the skid plate and PRO CIRCUIT clutch cover. Also added all new RED radiator hoses, and made up a custom set of billet passenger pegs on my laith (as pictured) so when my son rides along he has a place to rest his feet) So then lastly I took off anything aluminum and had it all anaodized. Motor mounts, skid plate, clutch lever/pertch, tripple tree parts that werent done, kickstarter, radiator gaurds, chain tensioner, rear sprocker(which you cant see, but its all red), and then of course built up 2 sets of rims for it. Anodized one set red with dark red hubs and black spoke nipples with polished spokes for dirt. And the street set on it is anodized black, with black hubs, and red spoke nipples with polished spokes, running the AVON DISTANZIA tires which are unreal on the street. it handles ALMOST like a super bike or crotch rocket, its so good it scares me because i havent found that "washout" point yet, and Ive PUSHED IT too! Then I re-geared it from a 15T countershaft to a 13, and went from a 51T rear to a 48!! So a total of 9 teeth because each front tooth counts as 3 rears. it used to topp out at about 55-65 on the highway in 5th gear, but now fourth feels better than 5th did, and when I hit 5th it FLIES!! I also added a speedo with odometer and Ive hit a buck twenty without any problems!! Still have yet to put the dirt tires/rims on it and go play in the dirt. And that combo uses a 50T rear so I dont sacrifice much torque in the dirt. Even with the street gearing it still wheelies in 3rd gear for days!!!! I gotta say its the best "dirt"bike Ive ever owned/built to date, man is it fun!! Glad you like it, let me know if you ever need anything I do all the fabrication work for my local HONDA/YAMAHA dealership, so i get cost plus 10% on everything. Plus i have some good connection of my own with alot of the big companies.

Man did you do some $hit to that bike .... :giggle: I can only imagine how it drives.
I was lucky when i got mine. It was a local race champs bike so it was already pretty much tuned and cleaned up inside out. He spent like £1000 on it over the past few months prior to me buying it. I added my own personal mods mind you , like the power blade intake.
With the 4stokes its so important to check those valves as you mentioned ( more so when using them off road ) as even with air filter covers that crap still finds its way to your head and valves. I had it done a few times , like every 20hours use on the tracks.
The only thing i was a little unsure of is the gear counter-shaft reconfiguration you mentioned. Does that make the trasision smoother or faster. ? ? Very interesting stuff Brett.

Na, its not gonna hurt the trans aslong as you run some quality GEAR SAVER gear oil or something. It deffinately does spin them faster though and if not maintained well or if its in poor condition its not a good idea. Kinda like putting a blower/supercharger on a tired old bottom end of a motor, not gonna last. But aslong as you take care of your stuff, and are dealing with good components to start with, using a quality oil (WHICH IS KEY), youll be fine. As I said Ive run it at 120mph and it had more to go. Hope that answers your question.

I see Brett. Yep that's what i was wanting to know. :agree: :agree: Thanks. Something new I have learned.
WoW ! ! ! 120MPH ,, thats awesome top end. :agree: The book speed is 110MPH I Believe ( but thats stock components ).
Using the tracks we never really got anywhere near them speeds. I drove down the sea wall a few times and was touching 100MPH but I got a bit scared then. Comming off at 100 started to go through my head .... lol   It hurts bad enough at 30 ...:giggle:
But I could not agree more. Using quality components , quality maintenance oils , lubes and some good old care goes a long long way. especially on these models.

yea they are paticularly finicky, and if everyhtings not JUST RIGHT, they will let you know it. But on the other hand, when you KEEP things "just right", they will run like a fine swiss watch and never give you a lick of trouble. And seeing as we get them in "just right" condition, its only the idiots that dont maintain them properly that end up having issues. The pistons in these bikes are modeled after FORMULA 1 pistons, and that should tell you something about the way they run and the amount of care they need. The pistons are only about an inch and a half tall, from shirt to top!! This is a big factor in the 10-12,000 rpm revving, which is part of their "hot roddy-ness"(new word)that they have. They are like riding a crotch rocket dirt bike the way the power is designed, PHENOMINOL is the word I choose to describe them. Well i gotta go finish welding a corvette rearend into a 70 chevelle im building for a guy. talk to you later.
