HI Guys:
I recently started getting runtime error messages.
They pop up when weather desktop starts up on the desktop;;
I uninstalled the weather program and it was fine for one start up then the message started back again.
Is there a fix to get rid of this and have you heard of this before.
thanks
Brad

Try doing a clean install of DNC and see if that takes care of the problem it sounds like a error possibly caused by the weather desktop.
So Do a Clean install is what I would try first or a system restore.:)

I would try using a registry repair tool.
There is a free one listed in my signature called Ccleaner just click it!!! :)

Hi again:
i'm still getting the error messages although annoying I can get by with them.
Also getting a error occurs while windows was working with the control panel
C:\Windows\system32\SetNote.cpl.
I click ok and it goes away
Can't download java update either . get a path error message.

I thing I need to back up everything and reinstall
or just deal for a while.
My youngest has been hitting the keyboard so who knows what was done.

Did you try a sysTem restore??
this would be a good idea just go back to a recent date that you know of when it was working ok!

The computer works fine and backups work with DNC its just a bit annoying

Ok , Mods

I use a IT Consultants version of a registry/system cleaner & repair program highly award winning , I will gladly share a version I have , I use this in my repair business also have a system diagnostic software , this will scan system in DOS to see if there are any hardware conflicts, that I will share .

If permisable.

In safe mode I have found turning off all "Virus,Malware,Root and Spyware " then do a system clean in safe mode. uninstall DNC, leaving M/2, clean system one more time, Reboot turning off "Virus,Malware,Root spayware" then install DNC again. Defragment drive.

Then turn off all programs in the start up menu that you do not need " you know those 47 icons down by your clock" then try running DNC.

The ideal setup Clean install OS with all drivers up to date and DNC only on a harddrive by itself with all the decyrpters needed to run DNC. I have set up a system this way and has not seen any errors since I have done this .

Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the offer but most of our users here aren't that experienced, some are but some aren't. Someone may want it though.

I did some thinking and remembering when this piece of software came out Brad, and then it hit me a few hours ago this was well known to have adware or spyware in the program. Something to consider and think about. There is no way to remove this stuff either I think and keep the program.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
My wife hates when I format so for the timebeing I'm going to deal with the annoyances. After I backup everything, I will do a clean install.
I just got the Western Digital My Book 500G so moving all data to that will be easier that making dvd data copies.
Thanks for all the advice and I guess this is what happens when 4 year olds get ahold of surfing on hotwheels.com and lego and transformers and all the other stuff.

I also had a run time error .
Purchased download week or so ago , bruned a few using add on dvd 43 no problems.
Saw update , as I loaded the update I got lots error msgs on laod and had to ignore to cmpt. Since then doesnt work.
As I read these pages I tried to sys restore back prior , loaded but still have error problems.
Did disc clean up , even some software updates sicne I was trying to clean up
Finally got frustrated and delete files reload fresh reboot PC several times after 2nd time seems to work now.
Working of windows XP. . Just thought I would post in case happens again or you see a trend happening

DVD43 is your problem. Uninstall that and do a search and remove the leftovers and get the machinist.dll.

C:\Windows\system32\SetNote.cpl. <<<<< "NOTE CPL, Controll Panel"

Ive done a little research on this error. it is appearent that it is a controll panel error " .cpl"

Which I am finding erros can be caused by

IBM VIA VOICE
ANY NEW ADDED TOOL BAR.

I SUGGEST GOING INTO YOUR CONTROL PANEL IN ADD/ REMOVE PROGRAMS , REMOVE ALL TOOL BARS.

Are you running any of these:
Net Zero
JUNO
MSN
AOL
Weather bug or like kind:
Use Weather Underground does not install on machine

NORTON
PANDA
McCAFFE

BE SURE TO TURN OFF THESE BEFORE ANY INSTALL

If So remove all , Run a Malware removal tool AVG has a free one , and RootKit Removal.

Clean Reg after

Do a Clean install of DNC

.Let me know. if this helps any.

Good luck

For me I dont use AOl or msn or the like.
I did a clean install use machine.dll and after the new instal seems to work okay.

Did burn couple disc no problem then found 2 different movies to burn. As I copied to disc it was cmpt in 6 mins.which I know is to short for my regular time. As I tried to watch it was missing 1/2 the movie. Had the wife play with the discs while at work , changed to a diff disc media and they burned in full.
So I am guessing it was the discs.
At this time its working okay thanks for the advice
